Medal commemorating the action at Chemulpo, 1904. Obverse: The Cross of the Order of Valour of St George, on a black and yellow striped ribbon, within an open laurel wreath. Legend in Cyrillic (For the action of the 'Varyag' and 'Koreets', 27 January, 1904, Chemulpo). Reverse: The two ships steaming to right, to engage the Japanese Squadron shown in the distance. Above, a cross. Fitted with a loop. (The two ships went out to attack the Japanese fleet, but were forced back into Chemulpo where their commander Captain Rudnev sank them to save capture.)
