Legend: 'QUIEN BIEN VELA TODO SE LE REVELA'; 'NAVEGACION UNIVERSAL UNION DE LOS MARES' (To the good watchman all is revealed. Universal navigation, union of the seas). Reverse: Starboard broadside view of a steamship barque-rigged; tools, bales, etc. Left, a palm tree with sun rising behind (right) above two flying female figures representing Europe and America. Legend: 'PRIMERA EXPEDICION ESPAÑOLA AL ISTMO DE PANAMA' (below) 'INICIADA Y COSTEADA POR EL MARQUES DE CAMPO' (At the initiation and cost of the Marquis de Campo).
