Medal commemorating the floods in Europe, 1784. Obverse: Small boats picking up drowning men in rough water, a city in distance. Legend: 'ICH BIN INTIEFFEN WASSER VND DIE FLVHTWILLMICH ERSEIFEN.' (I am come into deep water so that the floods run over me. Ps. 69. 2.) Inscription: 'EUROPA INWASSER.' (Europe under water.) Exergue: 'PS . 69 . V . 3.' Reverse: A partially submerged city with people, animals, etc. in the water, a rainbow behind. Legend: 'ICH WIL DENKEN AN MEINEN BUND . I . B MO : 9.' (I will ponder over my covenant.) Exergue: 'KLEINE SUNDFLUT . D . 27 . F : 1784.' (The little deluge.)
