Medal commemorating Sir Edward Grey (1862-1933) and neutral shipping. Obverse: A figure of death standing, dressed in the uniform of an Admiral with flags in his right hand and Sir Edward Grey sitting, both in a small boat with a sail, dressed with the flags of the neutral Holland, Spain and Denmark. Inscription, on boat: 'EDWARD GREY.' Exergue: '1915.' Reverse: Inscription, within a lifebuoy, a laurel spray below, 'MIT NEVTRALEN FLAGGEN HOHEIT GEBIETEND STELLT SICH ZVR WEHR DER . EDLE BRITE - DER WEITMEERBEHERRSCHER NACH SEERAEVBER SITTE.' (The noble Briton rules the sea, defending himself with neutral flags in the manner of a pirate.) Inscription, on lifebuoy: 'HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE.'
