Legend: 'beg : 1887 NORD-OSTSEE-CANAL 1895 volld.' (Begun 1887 Baltic Sea Canal 1895 Full.) Exergue: Coat of arms, wreathed with ribbon, inscribed, 'NAVIGARE NECESSE EST'.
