Reverse: Inscription, 'DURCH UNTERSEEBOOT 9 BEI HOEK VAN HOLLAND 3 ENG. PANZERKREUZ. VERNICHTET D.22. SEPT. 1914.' (Off Hook of Holland three English armoured cruisers destroyed on 22 Sept 1914.) Fitted with a loop and ring.
