Medal commemorating Grossadmiral Alfred von Tirpitz (1849-1930). Obverse: Bust of Admiral von Tirpitz in uniform (three-quarter left). Legend: 'GROSSADMIRAL V. TIRPITZ.' Reverse: A high cliff (right), seas breaking below and clouds with forked lightning (left); two eagles above preparing to fly, one already in flight. Exergue: 'WATERKANT!' (Sea coast - low German for the North Sea coast.)
