Medal commemorating Captain Isaac Hull (1773-1843) and the action between USS 'Constitution' and HMS 'Guerriere', 1812. Obverse: Bust of the Captain Isaac Hull in uniform. Below: 'ISAACUS HULL.' Legend: 'PERITOS ARTE SUPERAT JUL. MDCCCXII AUG. CERTAMINE FORTES.' (In July 1812 Isaac Hull beat the crafty in cunning, and in August the brave in battle). Reverse: Starboard-quarter view of HMS 'Guerriere' dismasted and starboard broadside view of USS 'Constitution'. Legend: 'HORAE MOMENTO VICTORIA.' (Victory in the space of an hour). Exergue: 'INTER CONST . NAV . AMER . ET . GUER . ANGL.' (Between the American ship 'Constitution' and the English ship 'Guerriere'). Although unsigned, this is probably the work of M. Fürst.

It is one of a series of 27 medals struck by special resolution of Congress commemorating American successes during the War of 1812.
