Two United States flags on either side. Legend: 'DR ELISHA KENT KANE, THE GREAT ARCTIC NAVIGATOR, U.S.N.' Reverse: Masonic pavement with three pillars and various emblems (including a rayed eye, a rayed sun, seven stars, G, three candles, geometric figures, a coffin with a skull and cross bones on the lid), all within encircling crossed palm branches and a garland border.
