Reverse: A shield inscribed 11 June 1865 on an anchor and cannon crossed, decorated with palm and oak sprays. Inscription (on shield): '11 DE JUNHO DE 1865.' Legend (within line): 'COMBATE NAVAL DO RIACHUELO.' (11 June 1865, The Battle of Riachuelo.) (The battle was fought on the Parana River, when the Paraguayan fleet was almost annihilated.) Fitted with a crown and ring and a white ribbon edged with green.
