Medal commemorating Captain Prat and the Battle of Iquique, 1879. Obverse: Bust of the captain in plain clothes (three-quarter left). Legend: 'ARTURO PRAT.' Reverse: An inscribed scroll resting against an anchor, a star above. Inscription (on scroll): 'MUCHACHOS! "NINGUN BUQUE CHILENO HA ARRIADO JAMAS SU BANDERA : ESPERO QUE ESTA NO SEA LA OCASION DE HACERLO.' (Lads! a Chilian boat has never struck her colours; I trust that this will not be the occasion for doing so.) Legend: 'COMBATE NAVAL DE IQUIQUE 21 DE MAYO DE 1879.'
