Reverse: Inscription, 'RECEPCION DE LOS RESTOS DE LOS HEROES DE IQUIQUE.' (Reception of the remains of the heroes of Iquique.) Legend: 'VALPARAISO MAYO . 21 . 1888.' (Valparaiso 21 May 1888). This occurred two years after the erection of the monument.
