Medal commemorating the Battle of Manila Bay - 2nd anniversary. Obverse: Port-bow view of the flagship USS 'Olympia' in action with signal flags flying from the mainmast. Legend: 'ADMIRAL GEORGE DEWEY'. On a scroll 'U.S.S. OLYMPIA'. Reverse: Seven rectangular plaques bearing the names of USS 'OLYMPIA, BALTIMORE, RALEIGH, PETREL, CONCORD, BOSTON, McCULLOCH', linked by a cable with a wreathed foul anchor in the centre and crossed flag and quill pen at the base and five-pointed star above. Legend: 'IN . MEMORY . OF . THE . SECOND . ANNIVERSARY . OF . THE . VICTORY . OF . MANILA . BAY . CHICAGO . MAY . 1 . 1900'. Suspended by twin chains from an ornamental bar inscribed 'RECEPTION COMMITTEE', surmounted by an eagle with a dolphin each side and within a rope border. From the centre of the bar, between the two chains, is suspended a fretted anchor with a letter 'D' superimposed upon it.
