Medal commemorating the visit of the Chilean fleet to Rio de Janeiro, 1897. Obverse: A ribbon with legend above entwined with a laurel spray below. Legend and inscription: 'AL PUEBLO BRASILERO LA MARINE CHILENA AGRADECIDA ABRIL DE 1897' (To the people of Brazil, the Chilean Navy in gratitude. April 1897). Reverse: An anchor hung with the shields of Brazil (left) and Chile (right), decorated with laurel and oak sprays, rays behind.
