Obverse: Within garland tied with ribbon a draped female figure (Argentina) seated (right) her left hand on her shield, crowning a bust of Christopher Columbus (1451-1506) with a laurel wreath; a cherub (left) seated, holding an anchor, a distant ship (left), a globe, compass, etc. beneath. Below: '12 OCTUBRE 1492'. Reverse: An inscribed tablet with a condor above holding a palm branch in his beak, oak branches below. Inscription: 'CRISTOBAL COLON DESCUBRIDOR DE AMERICA EL PUEBLO ARGENTINO CONMEMORA SU IV CENTENARIO 12 OCTUBRE 1892'.
