Medal commemorating the reconquest of Argentina, 1807. Obverse: A female figure, a sword in her right hand, her cloak blowing out from her shoulders, standing on the shore (right), a fleet in the distance. Reverse: A tablet below, a semi-wreath of laurel (left), inscription, 'EL PUEBLO ARGENTINO CONMEMORA EL PRIMER CENTENARIO DE LA RECONQUISTA Á INICIATIVA DE LA COMISION DE HOMENAJE Y MONUMENTO Á LOS HEROES DE 1806 Y 1807 XII . VIII . MCMVI.' (The centenary of the reconquest of Argentina and the commission to erect a monument to the heroes of 1806-07.) This commemorates the defeat of the British Expeditionary Force under Brigadier-General W.C.Beresford and Admiral Home Riggs Popham that sailed to Buenos Aires in 1806-7 from the Cape of Good Hope and temporarily occupied the city.
