Medal commemorating the bombardment of Rio de Janeiro, 1893-94. Obverse: View of the bay with warships and forts firing. Legend: 'RIO DE JANEIRO'. Reverse: The arms of Brazil. Legend: 'LEMBRANÇA . DA . REVOLUÇÃO. 7.9.93 13.3.94'. (A souvenir of the revolution.) Struck to commemorate the revolution, 1893-94, when Admiral Custodio de Mello's three cruisers revolted and bombarded the city.
