Tunic

Vest used on the Australasian Antarctic Expedition 1911-14. Vest, knitted in cream wool with brown flecks. It has a round neck with a cotton collar and cuffs, side splits with a small triangle of wool sewn in at the top and overstitched seams. A double thickness yoke at the front. The collar has three button holes for collar studs, one at the back and two at the front. Closed by three mother of pearl finish buttons and button holes reinforced with a cotton strip. The sleeves are gathered into the cuffs. Maker's label.
