Medal commemorating HMS 'Chester' and the battle of Jutland, 1916. Obverse: Badge and motto of HMS 'Chester'. Inscription: 'ANTIQUI COLANT ANTIQUUM DIERUM.' (let the ancients worship the ancient of days). Reverse: Inscription superimposed over fouled anchor. Inscription: 'H. M. S. CHESTER.' Engraving: 'MAY 31ST 1916.' Fitted with loop and ring. Presented to the crew by the citizans of Chester at the time of the ship's commissioning in early May 2016. 402 medals, all bronze, were issued with a space on the back for battle honours [information John Lindop].
