Rectangular shaped ingot. Obverse: Port broadside view of a packet ship, sails set. Inscription: 'PACKET SHIP'. Reverse: Inscription, 'PACKET SHIP Nineteenth Century. The Packet Ship inaugerated a guarenteed schedule of passenger service between America and England. Manned by American officers, this type of ship plied the Atlantic for most of the first half of the nineteenth century. It helped place America in the forefront of the world's great maritime nations.'
