Rectangular shaped ingot. Obverse: Starboard broadside view of a barquentine, sails set. Inscription: 'BARKENTINE'. Reverse: Inscription, 'BARKENTINE Nineteenth Century. The Barkentine rig was an important development in the history of sailing ships for it helped make sailing ships commemercially competitive until well into the twentieth century. Barkentines were distinguished by their square-rigged foremasts, while their other masts were fore and aft rigged.'
