Ingot commemorating the ship 'Lancing'
Rectangular shaped ingot. Obverse: Stern view of the 'Lancing', sails set. Inscription: 'LANCING'. Reverse: Inscription, 'LANCING 1888.' Originally a steamship, the Lancing was converted to sail in 1888 and established herself as one of the fastest sailing ships ever launched in Great Britain. She made many record passages and continued carrying commercial cargoes until 1925, when she was retired from service.'
