Ingot commemorating the 'Thomas W Lawson'
Rectangular shaped ingot. Obverse: Starboard broadside view of the 'Thomas W. Lawson', sails set. Inscription: 'THOMAS W LAWSON'. Reverse: Inscription, 'THOMAS W LAWSON 1902. The largest sailing ship ever designed as a coal-carrier, the giant "Thomas W. Lawson" was the only seven-masted schooner ever built. Although she was 375.6 feet in length, labor-saving mechanical devices made it possible for her to operate with a crew of only 16 men.'
