Obverse: Two half-length figures: Vernon facing (three-quarter right), baton in right hand, left extended in front of Brown, who faces left, with baton in left hand. Both figures extend to the edge below. No line enclosing legend. Legend: '. ADMIRAL . VERNON . AND . COMMODORE . BROWN .' Reverse: View of the port. Six ships, placed three and three, the upper row sailing to left, the lower to right. Two small vessels inside. No line enclosing legend. Legend: 'THE . TOOK . PORTO . BELLO . WITH . SIX . SHIPS . ONLY .' Exergue: 'NOV . 22 . 1739 .'
