Defence of Gibraltar 1779-83
A dollar. Similar to MED0001. A plate, with rigid loop. Obverse: A brick furnace. Inscription: 'Spaniards defeated by RED hot SHOT at Gibraltar Sept. ye 13th 1782'. Reverse: a Spanish battering ship on fire, inscription below: 'The Pastoru (Pastora) Baltl. ship Adml. Morino (Moreno) J Wheatley'. One of the rare examples of the badges manufactured and presented to deserving soldiers during the siege. 'Moreno' mispelt 'Morino'.
