Davison's Trafalgar Medal 1805
Obverse: An oval shield with motto and an inscribed ribbon below surmounted by a bust of Admiral Lord Nelson. Around shield 'TRIA JUNCTA IN UNO.' On ribbon: 'PALMAM QUI MERUIT FERAT'. Legend: Inner line, 'ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN TO DO HIS DUTY' (below) 'NATUS SEP. 29. 1758.' Outer line, 'HOSTE DEVICTO REQUIEVIT' (the enemy defeated he went to his rest). Reverse: Starboard broadside view of a ship of the line at anchor. Legend: 'THE LORD IS A MAN OF WAR EXODUS C.15.V.3.' (below) 'VICTORY OFF TRAFALGAR OVER THE COMBINED FLEETS OF FRANCE AND SPAIN OCT.21.1805'. This medal is said to have been the gift of Mr. A. Davison to the officers and men of the Victory.
