Obverse: Head of Queen Victoria with a diadem, hair tied in a knot (L). Legend: "VICTORIA REGINA". Reverse: Winged Victory seated at the foot of a palm tree, a wreath in her left hand an olive branch in her right hand, a wreath at her feet. Legend:"TO THE ARMY OF INDIA". Exergue: "1799-1820". Suspended from a cusped bar and pale blue ribbon. Bar: "AVA". Inscr. on edge "JACOB GERKIN, BOATSWAIN."
