New Zealand War Medal 1845-7

Obverse: Short bust of Queen Victoria in a diadem and veil (L)) Legend: "VICTORIA D:G:BRITT:REG:F:D:" Reverse: inscription within a laurel wreath tied with a bow"'1847". Legend: "NEW ZEALAND VIRTUTIS HONOR". Suspended from a bar with leaf decoration and dark blue ribbon with a central scarlet stripe. [This medal was not issued until after the second New Zealand War 1860-66]. Inscription on edge: "J. TURNER, ROPEMKR. H.M.S. INFLEXIBLE".
