Obverse: Short bust of Queen Victoria in a diadem and veil (L). Legend: "VICTORIA D:G:BRITT:REG:F:D:". Reverse: inscription within a laurel wreath tied with a bow "1860 TO 1861. Legend: "NEW ZEALAND VIRTUTIS HONOR". Suspended from a bar with leaf decoration and dark blue ribbon with a central scarlet stripe. Inscription on edge: "G. ADAMS, PTE. R.M., H.M.S. PELORUS".
