St Jean d'Acre Medal, Syrian War 1840

Obverse: The Sultan's cypher in Arabic, surrounded by a laurel wreath. Reverse: A fort flying the Turkish flag, above, six stars, inscription below in Arabic "1256" (1840) "The country of Syria and the fortress of Acre". Silver example fitted in glazed case with loop and bar. Awarded by the Sultan of Turkey in gold and silver to officers and in bronze to men. Presented to Lieutenant David Miller.
