Blane Medal for Medical Officers
Obverse: Head of Sir Gilbert Blane (L). Reverse Legend: "GILBERT BLANE BARONETTVS ARCHIATRVS AET.LXXXI". Britannia (L) a trident in her right hand, standing by a pedestal against which leans the staff of Aesculapius and an anchor; a seaman (L) supporting another in the state of collaspe. Legend: "MENTE MANVQUE". Below: "FOUNDED MDCCCXXX". Sir Gilbert Blane, P.M.O. to Admiral Rodney's Fleet in the West Indies, founded this medal for medical officers who kept approved journals.
