Legend: "PALMAM QUI MERUIT FERAT. Ex. MDCCCXXXIII". Reverse: inscription in six lines; the Royal crown above; crossed palm leaves resting on an oak wreath, below. Inscription: "SCHOL: REG: NAV: ALUMNO. IN. LIT: PARIT: HUMAN: ATQUE IN DISCIP: MATHEMAT: PALMAM. MERITO". Inscription on edge: "W.H.LAVERTY. 1863".
