Obverse: Head of the Commodore (L) Maltese cross (L) an inscribed scroll below Legend: "JAMES.GRAHAM.GOODENOUGH". Inscription: "SANTA CRUZ" (R) "1875" below "AD.SANGUINEM". Reverse: a draped figure of a woman on her left knee, applying a scale to the breech of a heavy gun with her right, a compass in her left hand; above the stern of a ship, inscribed: "Excellent" firing both broadsides. Legend: "MEMORIAL PRIZE FOR GUNNERY. INSTITUTED A.D.1878". Inscription on edge: "SUB-LIEUTENANT ANTHONY BEVIS LOCKHART R.N. 1911".
