Obverse: Inscription: "Cypher of Khedive Abbas Hilmi. 1314 H". (A.D. 1897). Bar: "HAFIR". (in English and Arabic). Reverse: An oval shield of the arms of Egypt upon a trophy of flags and weapons, an inscribed tablet and scroll below. Inscription.on tablet: "THE RECOVERY OF SUDAN. 1314. H"(in Arabic). Inscription on edge: "SPECIMEN". Fitted with a clasp and yellow ribbon with a central blue watered-silk stripe
