Obverse Short bust of Queen Victoria, crowned and veiled, with order (L) Legend: "VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX" . Reverse: The Canadian flag with a maple wreath. Legend: "CANADA". Bars: "FENIAN RAID 1866". "FENIAN RAID 1870". "RED RIVER" 1870". Inscription on edge: "SPECIMEN". Fitted with a clasp and scarlet ribbon with a central white stripe.
