Obverse: Bust of King Edward VII in naval uniform with order and medals. Legend: "EDWARDVS VII REX IMPERATOR". Reverse: Starboard bow view of transport under steam, above partial map of the world including Europe, most of Asia, South America, Africa, and Australia. Legend: "OB PATRIAM MILITIBUS PER MARE TRANSVECTIS ADJUTAM". Inscription on edge: "W. LIGHTFOOT". Bar: "SOUTH AFRICA. 1899-1902". Fitted with a clasp and red ribbon with two blue stripes.
