Polar Medal 1910-36
Obverse: Head of George V. Legend: 'GEORGIVS: V D.G.BRITT.OMN.REX ET INDIAE.IMP.' Reverse: Starboard broadside view of a barque-rigged steamer (Discovery) fast in the ice; a volcano in the distance; a group of six men in polar dress on skis in the foreground; a sledge with sails (left). Inscription on edge: 'SPECIMEN'. Bar: 'ARCTIC 1930-31'. The medal is fitted with a cusped bar and white ribbon with brooch pin. As awarded to members of Mr Watkins's British Arctic Air-Route Expedition.
