Board of Trade Sea Gallantry Medal
Obverse: Head of Queen Victoria laureate (left). Below bust 'V.R.' Legend: 'AWARDED BY THE BOARD OF TRADE FOR GALLANTRY IN SAVING LIFE'. Reverse: Three men, one of whom is signalling to a rescuing life-boat in the distance and a woman with a baby, on a raft and a broken spar in a stormy sea. Inscription on edge: 'ROBERT. P.G. FERRIES WRECK OF THE "FASCADALE" ON THE 7TH FEBRUARY 1895'. Fitted with a bar and blue ribbon.
Awarded to Robert Patrick Gordon Ferries (1875-1940) for helping to rescue some of the crew of the wrecked barque 'Fascadale' by assisting in getting a line to a boat from the 'Norham Castle'.
