Board of Trade Sea Gallantry Medal 1911-1936

Obverse: Head of George V (left). Below bust: 'G . R . I .' Legend: 'GEORGIVS V D . G . BRITT : OMN : REX F. D . IND. IMP.' Reverse: Three men, one of whom is signalling to a rescuing life-boat in the distance and a woman with a baby, on a raft and a broken spar in a stormy sea. Inscription within an oak wreath tied with a bow, surmounted by a royal crown. Inscription: 'PRESENTED BY THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT'. Legend: 'FOR ASSISTING A BRITISH VESSEL IN DISTRESS'. Inscription on edge: 'SPECIMEN'. Fitted with a cusped bar and scarlet ribbon with narrow stripe near each edge and a pin brooch.
