Obverse: An angel standing (centre), a wreath in her right hand, her left hand resting on the head of a kneeling woman; in the foreground a lifeboat man kneeling over a prostrate man lashed to a spar; a manned lifeboat and a wreck in distance (left). A lighthouse on a rock (right). Legend: 'SUNT LACRIMAE RERUM SUNT ET SUA PRAEMIA LAUDI' [there are tears of things, the praiseworthy has its rewards].. Reverse: A lifebelt inscribed: 'NATIONAL SHIPWRECK RELIEF SOCIETY OF N.S.W.' Inscription: 'AWARDED TO CHARLES ENBORN FOR SAVING CREW OF VENUS FROM DROWNING 8TH JUNE 1893'. Fitted with a cusped bar and dark blue ribbon.
