Silver Thursday Island Medal for Life Saving. Obverse: Engraved coat of arms of Australia with motto below 'ADVANCE AUSTRALIA'. Reverse Inscription incuse: 'PRESENTED TO CAPT. J. TAYLOR by the residents of THURSDAY ISLAND. FOR SAVING 5 LIVES 8TH JULY 1887'. With rope edge, fitted with a ring and blue ribbon.
