Inscription: 'REFUGE'. Below, a ribbon with date '1791'. Legend: 'THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF MASSACHUSETTS'. Reverse: A list of the names of the Officers and Trustees of the Society. Inscription: [List of twelve names] 'DAVID SEARS - PRESIDENT. ABBOT LAWRENCE - I VICE PREST JOHN HOMANS - II VICE PRES --------TRUSTEES R.BENNET FORBES-------WILLIAM AMORY'.
