Obverse: Within a wreath of laurel (left) and oak (right) the arms of Paris surrounded by a life-buoy, resting upon an anchor and crossed staves having axe (left) and pike heads (right) the whole murally crowned. Inscription: (on lifebelt) 'COURAGE ET DEVOUEMENT'. Reverse: Space for recipient's name. Legend: 'SOCIETE PARISIENNE DE SAUVATAGE. FONDEE EN 1886. Fitted with a loop of foliage from a scarlet ribbon with a central green stripe.
