Obverse: France laureate in a breastplate, seated under a tree (C) her shield at her side, a nude boy holding her sword (L) the breech of a gun and sea behind; marines drawn up in formation in distance (R) others doing exercises in the rear. Exergue: "TOUJOURS PRETS PATIENTS MAIS OBLIEUX JAMAIS". Reverse: A woman, a palm branch in her left and a laurel spray in her right hand, seated on a tablet. Uninscribed. Inscription: "ARRONDT DE VALENCIENNES PRIX OFFERT PAR LA STE DEC ANCIENS MILITAIRES DE LA MARINE". Fitted with a loop and ring.
