Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, Marine Corps
Obverse: Within a large anchor and cable surrounding legend a marine standing holding a lanyard attached to the breach of a large gun. Inscribed ribbon below. Legend: "UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS". On ribbon: "SEMPER FIDELIS". Reverse: Legend: "FIDELITY ZEAL OBEDIENCE". Inscription : "NO-11097, WILLIAM J.COCHRAN, 1ST ENLISTMENT.1916-1920" (incuse). Fitted with a ring and bar in the form of a rifle and red ribbon with a central dark blue stripe suspended from a brooch pin inscribed "U.S.MARINE CORPS".
