Obverse: Bust of Admiral Sampson in uniform (L) Legend: "U.S. NAVAL CAMPAIGN. WEST INDIES 1898". Inscription: "WILLIAM T. SAMPSON, COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF". Reverse: Three men standing on deck, an officer (C) a sailor firing a gun (L) another armed with a rifle (R); ships in distance. Exergue: "SANTIAGO DE CUBA MAY 18". Inscription on edge: "PASSED ASST.SURG.ROBERT LLOYD PARKER". Fitted with a ring suspended from brooch pin.
