Manila Bay Medal, 1898
Obverse: Bust of Commodore Dewey (R) in uniform with epaulettes, a small anchor and laurel wreath with star below (R). Inscription: "THE GIFT OF THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES TO THE OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE ASIATIC SQUADRON UNDER THE COMMAND OF COMMODORE GEORGE DEWEY". Reverse: Half-naked gunner seated on a gun holding a flag staff horizontally across his lap. A tablet below stamped with the name of one of the seven ships which took part in the action. Legend: "IN MEMORY OF THE VICTORY OF MANILA BAY 1 MAY 1898". Tablet: "U.S.S.OLYMPIA". Inscription on edge: "CARROL DALY, PRIVATE. U.S.M.C." Fitted with two rings and a link to a decorated bar depicting an eagle, sword and olive branch and a yellow ribbon with blue edges.
