Creamware jug transfer-printed in black with hand colouring in yellow and green. On one side a protrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805), very unlike, wearing an anchor badge on a sash, surrounded by a laurel wreath. Inscribed 'HERE'S TO OUR OLD FRIEND AND SUCCESS TO THE PEACE MAKERS.' 'LORD NELSON'. 'Heres a health to brave Nelson/Old Englands boast/The Hero of the Nile/Let this be our toast.' On the other side a portrait of Marquis Cornwallis between figures of 'JUSTICE' and 'MERCY', military trophies below, inscribed: 'MARQUIS CORNWALLIS'. 'To whose Clemency & Bravery Ireland owes her Preservation.' Below the lip, a vignette of three men in a rowing boat, one holding a lead line.
