Victory Medal 1917-19

Obverse: Winged figure of Victory holding a shield in her left hand and a sword in her right. Reverse: Shield of the United States bearing letters "U.S". and on either side the names of the associated powers. Legend: "THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILIZATION". Inscription: (L) "FRANCE; ITALY; SERBIA; JAPAN; MONTENEGRO; RUSSIA; GREECE". (r) "GREAT BRITAIN; BELGIUM; BRAZIL; PORTUGAL; RUMANIA; CHINA". Bars: "ARMED GUARD; ASIATIC; ATLANTIC FLEET; AVIATION; ESCORT; GRAND FLEET; OVERSEAS; PATROL; TRANSPORT; WEST INDIES". Fitted with a ring and rainbow-coloured ribbon with ten bars.
