Victory Medal 1917-19
Obverse: Winged figure of Victory holding a shield in her left hand and a sword in her right. Reverse: Shield of the United States bearing letters 'U.S.' and on either side the names of the associated powers. Legend: 'THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILIZATION'. Inscription: (left) 'FRANCE; ITALY; SERBIA; JAPAN; MONTENEGRO; RUSSIA; GREECE'. (right) 'GREAT BRITAIN; BELGIUM; BRAZIL; PORTUGAL; RUMANIA; CHINA'. Bars: 'ARMED GUARD; ASIATIC; ATLANTIC FLEET; AVIATION; ESCORT; GRAND FLEET; OVERSEAS; PATROL; TRANSPORT; WEST INDIES'. Fitted with a ring and rainbow-coloured ribbon with ten bars.
