Naval General Service Medal 1793-1840

Obverse: The head of Queen Victoria wearing a diadem and with hair tied in a knot. Legend: 'VICTORIA REGINA 1848'. On truncation: 'W. WYON R.A.'

Reverse: Britannia seated on a sea horse, a trident in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Exergue: 'W. WYON R.A.' Inscription on bars: '1 JUNE 1794', 'EUROTAS 25 FEBY 1814'. Inscription on the edge: 'ROBERT SMITH.'

The medal is suspended by a plain silver clasp from a white silk ribbon, edged dark blue. The Robert Smith in 'Eurotas' during 1814 was not the same Robert Smith who was present during the Glorious 1st of June.
